Hi friends,
46 days! 46 days until Christmas! This is not a drill, I repeat, this is NOT a drill!
Sooo, yes, I’m slightly crazy about Christmas. I have OCD, Obsessive Christmas Disorder. I’ve been planning a Christmas blog event since July (happening soon!), started listening to Christmas music the day after my birthday, and am now starting my Holiday Hootenanny posts that will remain until New Years.
Now, before I get any comments about “Don’t forget about Thanksgiving” and whatnot, let me clarify what my Holiday Hootenanny posts will consist of. Yes, most of my posts will be Christmas related, because it’s my favorite holiday. But I will have Thanksgiving based posts in there as well as a New Years post. My Holiday Hootenanny posts will include all the major holidays that I celebrate in the next coming months. #NoHolidayDiscrimination
I love absolutely everything about Christmas time, but all the delicious sweets and treats are near the top of my favorites list. My pants definitely start to get a little tighter as I make (and eat) all the goodies.
This year I’m participating in the #UltimateCookieParty with 22 other bloggers where we get together to share our best holiday treat recipes. I’ve already shared my Potato Candy recipe from last year, but I wanted to share a new recipe for this party as well.
For me, peppermint is the token holiday flavor. And, of course, hot chocolate is a must for these colder months. Combine the two with my favorite dessert, brownies, and you’ve got an awesome treat for the holidays!
Supply List
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1-3/4 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup hot cocoa mix
- 1-2/3 cup flour
- 1/4 cup peppermint patties (cut up into pieces)
- 1/3 cup crushed peppermint candies
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- Redi Whip
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
2. Mix butter and sugar together., until you have a creamy consistency.
3. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
4. Add salt, cocoa, hot cocoa mix, and flour and mix until well incorporated. Add 2/3 of your peppermint patty pieces to the batter.
5. Pour batter into the pan and sprinkle the remaining peppermint patty pieces on top.
6. Bake for about 20-25 minutes.
7. Let cool, and slice into 12 pieces. Save the corner pieces for yourself, because they’re the best. ;)
8. Once the brownies have completely cooled, top with Redi Whip, marshmallows, and peppermint candy bits.
Yummm! These are perfect to take with you to any holiday gathering! Or to eat by yourself while you watch Christmas movies. #nojudgements
