Every year Pantone releases a color of the year to predict the upcoming trends in home, fashion, etc. Well, this year, they threw us for a loop. This year, they chose two colors for the color of the year! In fact, the color chosen isn’t a color. It’s a blend of two colors. This year is the year of the pastels and it is giving me LIFE! Seriously. Can we have more pastel things in the world, please?
According to Pantone, these colors were chosen to “demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”
Now you may be thinking, “These colors are great, but I really don’t see how I can include them in my home.” Have no fear, Pantone is here! Pantone created some beautifully crafted color palettes for that very reason. The colors provide a pop with neutrals, like gray and beige, and lend a calming hand with bold purples and greens.

Test the Waters
So you’re not ready to bite the bullet yet. That’s totally ok! Change up your bedding or add a fun colored piece of furniture to your existing decor. Experiment with different shades of the colors or different mediums, like a high gloss piece or a metallic rose gold.
Be Adventurous
So you want to be a bit bolder? Paint an accent wall in one of the colors! This will create an amazing backdrop for a modern or traditional space.
Dare to Be Different
You are ALL about the color of the year and want to declare your love in a big way! Be unique and go with one color in different shades in one room and an ombre wall in another!
A lot of people that I’ve spoken to took a while to warm up to the colors Rose Quartz and Serenity. Not me. I jumped on that bandwagon before it was a bandwagon. I have both of these colors in my home’s color scheme and it used to be so difficult to find items that would be able to be incorporated into my decor. But not anymore! I love this year’s color blend and your inspirations with incorporating it in the home will definitely be helpful to all. I love the idea of starting with accessories first (if you’re a little hesitant on the color) and then slowly building it up. That’s the best way to design…little bit at a time.
