Hi friends,
Well, it’s that time of year. Either you (or your kids) have already headed back to school (you have my deepest sympathies) or yinz soon will be and even the smallest thought of no longer being able to sleep in gives you a headache. Now don’t get me wrong, I am stoked to see my students in a month but I am super not looking forward to having to wake up at ungodly hours in the morning.
Getting out of bed during the school year can be rough and sometimes I need a little motivation. I started making this green smoothie when I was a student in college to try and be healthier but to also get my butt out of bed in the morning.
I’ve tried a few green smoothies in my day, but none of them have been as good as this one and I think it’s because of the taste! I am not a fan of the taste of spinach so I wanted to mask that with a variety of fruits and the end result ends up tasting like an Orange Julius drink, which I love!
Ingredients
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 peach, peeled & pitted
- 1/2 of a banana, sliced
- 1-1/2 cup orange juice
Instructions
-
Add all ingredients into a blender. I don’t like my smoothies to be watered down with ice so I pre-slice my bananas and freeze them so they act as my ice cubes.
- Blend until smooth.
- Serve up and you’re ready to tackle your day!
Now, I’m not gonna lie, I don’t make this every day. There are just some days where I press the snooze button 50 billion times and I wanna lay in bed until the last possible minute. But on the days that I do peel myself out of bed and make this for myself, I feel 10x better and ready to tackle the day!
