Hi friends,
Halloween is less than 10 days away and that means that the Halloween parties are coming as well! When I party plan, I like to go all out; themed food, themed decor, and even themed dining ware.
While I’m not having a Halloween party this year, that doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate on my own! I decided to create some adorable Monster Mason Jars to enjoy any and all fall beverages!
Supply List
- mason jars
- black spray paint
- painters tape
- green acrylic paint
- yellow acrylic paint
- purple acrylic paint
- white acrylic paint
- googly eyes
- black puffy paint
- cheese cloth (cut into strips)
- plastic vampire teeth
- 3/8″ cap nuts
- glue
- Halloween colored paper straws
Instructions
1. Black was a recurring color for all of the monsters, so I decided to start by spray painting the jars a base coat of black.
2. Once the jars were dry, I started to brainstorm how I wanted the monsters to look overall. I started with the mummy, because it was the least time intensive.
3. For the mummy, I cut strips of cheese cloth I had leftover from a previous project into 10″ strips. The length will vary, dependent on the diameter of the mason jar. I glued one end on the back, and started wrapping. “Yo, yo, yo!” No, not that kind of rapping.
4. I wanted the black base to still be slightly visible, so I didn’t go overboard on the wrapping and I made sure to leave a small space unwrapped so he could “see”. Once he was wrapped how I liked it, I glued some googly eyes to the front.
5. For the Frankenstein monster, I cut squares of painters tape and applied them at random, diagonally near the top of the jar to create the hair.
6. Once the “hair” was how I wanted, I mixed green and yellow acrylic paint to create more of a “Frankenstein monster” skin tone. Let dry.
7. Once dry, I glued on some googly eyes on the front and some cap nuts on the sides. I then took puffy paint to create a “stitched” smiley face. Ninja overlooked the entire process.
8. For the vampire, I took a strip of tape and cut 2 semi-circles out. I placed it where I wanted on the front and then taped up the rest of the top.
9. I mixed a little bit of purple with a whole lot of white to get just the right lilac skin tone. Think the Count on Sesame Street. Let dry.
10. Once dry, I applied googly eyes and some plastic vampire teeth. For the vampire teeth, I separated the top from the bottom and cut the top in half so that the back was flat. Mine were glow in the dark, so I painted them white.
11. Enjoy with any fall themed beverage!
These are just too adorable and I love them. I think that the Frankenstein monster is my favorite! I wasn’t planning on throwing a Halloween party, but I think I might need to so that I can display these little guys!
Are you going to any Halloween parties?

Your jars are adorable. I don;t think I will use my mason jars but I have some salsa jars that would work just fine.
Thanks for the idea,

It’s a good thing Ninja oversaw the whole project. My cats have to make sure everything gets done right.
These are so cute! It’s tough to decide which one I love more, but I think the mummy wins.
