Hi friends.
Happy Labor Day! Labor Day, to me, marks the official end to summer. While I could totally pull all of my fall decor out in mid-July, that would probably be a bit much and people would slightly judge me. Even though those memes floating around Facebook & Twitter are totally me.
So last week I decided to bring out some of my fall & autumnal decor to curate a simple fall mantel vignette. When I moved into the loft last year I put up some shelves above my bed that would act as my mantel now that I don’t have a real one anymore. RIP Beautiful White Brick Fireplace.
I love layering whenever I put up decor for any season but since the majority of my fall decor is still in storage, I did light layering for this fall mantel. Gotta work with what I got. :)
Last year at the end of the Fall season when the Target gods decided to smile down upon us and make things 50 – 70% off, I. Stocked. Up. I’m obsessed with fairy lights so I legit bought 10 packs. I mean, they were less than $1, what was I supposed to do? I put 3 strands under this giant glass cloche I picked up at Sal Val and it looks so magical. I brought out my deliciously smelling Leaves candle from Bath & Body Works on one side and my peace sign statue on the other. Because peace out, summer!
I love all of the printables that my fellow bloggers put out and this one has been a fave for a couple years. I printed and framed it and placed it on my shelf. You can find this specific printable here but if it’s not your style you can find even more fall themed printables here. I grabbed my most favorite candle that’s in the shape of a fox (I’ve had it for years and I refuse to burn it) and put it next to these fall colored books. It just so happens that the colors of the covers match the colors in the printable and I’m totally not mad about the happy accident. I swapped out my summery flowers with a fall bouquet full of autumnal colors.
To add some height to my fall mantel I added my Anberlin’s Dismantle.Repair. lyric print behind the fall printable to bring in some light layering. In addition to my fairy lights last year, I grabbed this navy & rose gold wood slice chalkboard. I wrote “autumn vibes” in a pretty brush font using my favorite chalk transfer method (check it out here) and stuck it to the wall.
I didn’t do a ton of decorating in the past year because I still have a ton of stuff in storage, but the Fall season is the best season so I figured it was time to dig out my decor and put it on display. I’ll probably be spending the rest of Labor Day unearthing everything out of storage and making some super cute Fall themed DIYs to share with yinz later.
How early do you guys start decorating for Fall?
