Hi friends,
I am so excited that I can barely even type! Right now, I’m in Atlanta for the Haven blogging conference! Eeeek, I have been wanting to attend this conference every since I heard about it 2 years ago and now I’m finally here! Sorry not sorry for the excessive use of exclamation points. ;)
Attending a blogging conference was one of the ten things I wanted to accomplish for my blog this summer and now I can check it off my list. I can also check off making business cards. I knew I wanted to bring business cards along with me, but I didn’t think that I could get the same look I did if I had gone through VistaPrint or Moo.
Supply List
- watercolor paper
- watercolors
- small paintbrush
- rose gold / copper spray paint
- paper cutter
Instructions
1. Design the front and the back of your business cards. I used Photoshop but you could also use free software like Canva or PicMonkey. I wanted to make sure I included the following: blog name, my name, website, email, social media (facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest, snapchat) and a qr code. The qr code is optional (you can get your own here), but it gives someone a chance to go directly to my website easily.
2. Once your cards are designed, lay them out either in Photoshop or Word. The size of a typical business card is 3 1/2″ x 2″ so you should be able to fit 12 to a page with a 1/2″ border around the edge.
3. Watercolor paper doesn’t come in 8 1/2″ x 11″ so I had to cut mine down to size. Once you have your correct paper size, print your business cards out.
4. Take your business cards to the paper cutter and cut them out. I made sure that I created a very faint grid so that I would know that they’d be the correct size in the end.
5. Once all of the cards are cut, it’s time to add the watercolor. I didn’t want it to be too overpowering, so I just added a border on the top and bottom on the front and on the sides on the back. I went with a very light gray to keep with my aesthetic, but you can do whatever color(s) you want.
6. Now to add the gilded edges. I, of course, went with rose gold, but you can do any metallic you want. Take a small stack and wrap a piece of paper around it. This will protect the “faces” of the cards. Spray paint the edges and let dry. And take from my experience, wear gloves. ;)
And now you have business cards as unique as you are!
I’m super stoked with how they turned out and I can’t wait to hand them out to people.
Are you at Haven? Come say hi!
