Hi Friends,
I have been in full on Spring cleaning mode lately. I am cleaning, de-cluttering, filling boxes full of stuff to yard sale, and trying to organize what I’m keeping. It’s sort of a hassle right now, but in the end it’ll be so, so good!
One of the things that I recently organized was all of my jewelry. I have an awesome jewelry organizer that has places for everything you can think of, except rings. It has trays that I can (and do) put them on, but they end up getting all clumped together.
On the days that I do wear rings, I definitely have favorites that I wear more than others. I wanted a way to separate those but also display them in a pretty way. So I created a jewelry box just for that but with a fun, Spring twist!
I created a video tutorial for this DIY that you can view here or on my YouTube channel, but if you’d rather see step-by-step tutorial photos and text, you can follow along below!
Supplies
- box
- acrylic paint
- paint pallet & brush
- plain paper
- felt
- faux flowers
- hot glue gun & glue sticks
- masking tape
Instructions
1. I decided I wanted the base of my jewelry box to be a deep navy so I mixed together blue acrylic paint with a little bit of black to get the color I desired. Paint the entire thing in the color of your choice and let dry.
2. While that was drying, I measured the inside of my box and cut 5 pieces of scrap paper to fit the width. Do this so you have small stacks of paper.
3. Roll up the stack and tape together to create a tube. I created 5 “separators”, because that’s what fit in my box. Tape together to secure.
4. Measure out the amount of felt you’d need to cover the paper tubes and cut out.
5. Apply glue to one edge of the felt and press the paper tube into it. Roll the felt around the tube and glue together.
6. Apply hot glue all over the bottom of the box and press your felted separators down into it. Let dry.
7. Cut your flowers off of the stem so that there is only about an inch left.
8. Glue one flower at each of the corners and fill in the space with the rest. I only needed 5 flowers.
9. Fill it up with your favorite rings!
Even though this is a Spring DIY, I’m totally going to keep this up all year round. It’s going to fit right in with my master bedroom once it’s makeover is complete.
How are you getting organized this Spring?

Oh I love this! Where did you find the box? I didn’t listen to the video is it in there?

No, sorry Liz! I meant to say it and I didn’t. It’s just an old watch box that I bought a couple months ago but this DIY can be done with any kind of box that has a lid! :)
