Hi friends,
Guess what! I turn 24 today! Woot woot!
In honor of turning 24, I decided to do a fun and random post to tell you 24 random facts about myself.
You may know all of this about me, know only a little bit, or know absolutely nothing about me. In any case, enjoy!
1. Do you have a nickname?
My friends Michael and Danny came up with the nickname “Chelk” when I was in 8th grade, because I spell my name C-H-E-L-C, and most people think that’s how it’s pronounced.
2. How did you get your blog name?
I’m an interior designer and my last name is Fox. When I started this blog I had just purchased my first house. I wanted to show my friends and family projects I would be working on to turn the house into a home. A fox’s home is called a den, and because it was a peek inside this Fox’s “den” it seemed perfect!
3. Do you have any siblings?
I had 2 step-sisters at one point, but I never met them. Long story. :)
4. What do you order at Starbucks?
It depends on the time of year. I love their blended strawberry lemonade and peach green tea in the warm months and their peppermint mocha in the cold months. But I’ve recently been obsessed with their new fall drink; Toasted Graham Latte.
5. What is your favorite movie?
The entire Star Wars series. Yes, even the prequels that most Star Wars fans hate. And yes, I’m super duper excited for the 7th episode this Christmas!
6. What is your least favorite movie?
There have only been 2 movies in my life that I watched that I’ve been extremely disappointed in. #1: The Aviator with Leonardo DiCaprio. I watched this movie and I was like “Well that’s almost 3 hours of my life that I’ll never get back.” Seriously. As soon as the scene where Leo refuses to leave his room for days and pees in jars came on, I was 100% done. No thank you. #2: Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst. I was actually really excited about this movie and there were some good parts in it, it was just the ending that I was most annoyed with. It ended with her riding in a carriage, talking about how she was going to miss her pear trees, or something lame like that. Like, no thank you, director Sophia Coppola. Show Marie being captured and beheaded, like what happened in real life! Sorry if that’s morbid, but if I’m going to watch a movie about the life of a person in history, I would like to see how their life actually ended. Her life did not end while she said she was going to miss her pear trees. It was just an unsatisfying ending.
7. Who is your favorite band / musician?
I have 2 favorite bands, Anberlin and There For Tomorrow. Unfortunately, they both retired last year (within a month of each other! ow, my heart!) and are no longer making music as bands. But some members are making music separately and I look forward to seeing what they produce!
8. What is your favorite book?
Peter Pan. I know way too much about this book and the life of JM Barrie. I’m kind of obsessed.
9. What was the last book you read?
I have this problem with buying a book, starting it, and then buying another book and forgetting about the one that I’m currently reading. It happens way too often. But right now I’m reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo because I am determined to get my house in an organized state of being.
10. Has a book ever upset you?
Yes! I had to read Bastard out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison in a college English class and I really liked it, but the ending upset me so much that once I finished I threw the book against the wall in RAGE. I won’t tell you the ending because I don’t want to spoil it, but it just left me unfulfilled and in a state of “That’s how it ended? Seriously?!”
11. Do you dye your hair?
Nope, my purple-ish hair is all natural. ;) Just kidding, I dye my hair a lot.
12. What is your favorite pizza topping?
I used to hate pizza growing up. I know, I’m inhuman. I can eat it now, but I really have to be in the mood for it. When I do eat it, if I can have Canadian Bacon (aka, fancy ham) I’m in pizza heaven.
13. Do you prefer Coke or Pepsi?
Coke. Well, Diet Coke. Coke’s a little too sweet, but I wayyyy prefer that to Pepsi. Unfortunately, my family on my dad’s side do not feel the same way and are Pepsi fanatics. Some say that there’s no difference but you are sad and wrong if you think that.
14. Who is your favorite superhero?
The Green Lantern, but not Hal Jordan. No, I prefer John Stewart.
15. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Teleportaion. No more travel expenses, I could be where I wanted with the snap of my fingers, it would just be fantastic.
16. How did you and your best friend meet?
I have two best friends, a boy best friend and a girl best friend; Christian and Hannah. I met Hannah in high school. We bonded in chemistry class my senior year and we’ve been inseparable ever since! I met Christian at a summer camp, 15 years ago. I can’t tell the full story on how we became BFFs, because he’d kill me, but it’s a great story. :)
17. What is a pet peeve of yours?
When people select text ringtones for their phone call ringtones and I have to listen to a ping over, and over, and over. Like, no. That ringtone is meant for a text, or an alert. It is not meant to be played on repeat for a minute and a half while you try and answer a phone call.
18. What do you do to relax?
Binge-watch TV shows on Netflix, take a soak in the tub with a bath bomb, read a book, or cross stitch.
19. Do you sing in the car?
I put on full blown performances in the car. The other cars around me are quite impressed. Or embarrassed for me. I can’t tell.
20. Have you ever gotten pulled over?
Once, but wasn’t given a ticket. My registration had expired by like, 3 days, and the DMV never sent me registration renewal so I totally forgot about it. But the policeman was super nice and just gave me a warning and told me I could do it online. You can do everything online now.
21. What’s the one thing in your closet that you can’t live without?
A black cardigan. I have about 10 different styles and wear them all the time.
22. What is your favorite number?
I really like the number 5. I have a weird OCD quality that I have to have things that I can control in numbers that are divisible by 5, like TV & music volume, temperature, etc.
23. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
London. I’m in love with a city I’ve never been to. I’d really love to live there one day.
24. What random thing do you love at the moment?
Podcasts! I have no idea why I never listened to them before, but I’m quite obsessed. I’ve been binge-listening to Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig and it’s hilarious!
Well, there you have it! 24 random things about me! Did you learn something new and want to be best friends? Did you already know all of this because your a secret stalker? Either way, I love you all.
Thanks for letting me do a random, fun post for my birthday today! Come back next Monday for an exciting HALLOWEEN tutorial!
