Hi friends,
We are days away from witnessing one of the greatest TV events of the year: the unveiling of hilarious commercials. Oh, and I guess some dudes throw a ball around and run into each other for a few hours.
Other than the commercials, the 2nd best part of watching the Super Bowl is all of the delicious food. For me, honey BBQ wings and potato skins are a must. But, of course, I have to have some sweets in there too.
I had been craving cookies anyways, so I decided to try out a new recipe!
- 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cups cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Green Sprinkles
- Vanilla Frosting
- 1. Cream the butter and sugar together in the bowl of an electric mixer on low to medium speed (Use a paddle attachment). Mix until thoroughly incorporated – about one minute.
- 2. Add eggs slowly and mix.
- 3. Add liquid vanilla extract. Stir briefly.
- 4. Sift your dry ingredients together. (Flour, cocoa powder, and salt).
- 5. Add all of the flour mixture to the bowl and mix on low speed.
- 6. Roll the dough out onto parchment paper and put into the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour.

- 1. Remove the chocolate dough from the fridge and roll into a log. With your hands, form into an oval shaped log. Place back into the fridge for 10 minutes to chill again.
- 2. Remove the sugar cookie dough from the fridge and place between 2 sheets of parchment paper. Roll out to 1/4" thickness and place back into the fridge for 10 minutes to chill again.
- 3. Remove both types of dough from the fridge and wrap the chocolate dough up in the sugar cookie dough, like a burrito. Place back into the fridge for 10 minutes to chill.
- 4. Combine 1 part hot water to 1 part sugar and set aside.
- 5. Remove the dough from the fridge, and apply the water sugar mixture to the outside.
- 6. Pour the sprinkles onto a cookie sheet and roll the dough in them, coating the outside.
- 7. Preheat your oven to 350°F or 176°C.
- 8. Slice the dough into 1/4" thick slices.
- 9. Bake cookies for 8-12 minutes or until the center of the cookie no longer looks wet. The baking time will depend on the size of your cookie.
- 10. Let cookies cool to room temperature.
- 11. Place your frosting into a pastry bag with a small round tip at the end. Draw on the football markings.
- 12. Serve for the Super Bowl and enjoy!
